Malky Mackay: 'Ryan Giggs is my favourite player'

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay reveals that Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has been his favourite player of the last 15 years.

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has admitted that Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has deserved to be recognised for his achievements throughout his time at Old Trafford.

Giggs is just 49 appearances short of 1,000 for United after an unparalleled career with the club, and Mackay has revealed that the 40-year-old has been his "favourite" player over the past 15 years.

The 39-year-old told reporters: "Every day of the week, every week of the year for the last 15 years, he has been a top player.

"He is a top bloke, and he is probably my favourite player of the last 15 years."

The former Wales international could feature against Mackay's side when United travel to the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
