Rene Meulensteen is reportedly poised to join Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala and work under manager Guus Hiddink following his Manchester United exit.

Former Manchester United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen is reportedly expected to join Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala's coaching staff.

The 49-year-old is looking for new pastures following confirmation from the Premier League champions yesterday that he has left Old Trafford after Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement at the end of the season.

While some reports have claimed that Meulensteen is keen on staying in England, he is in fact planning to join Guus Hiddink at Anzhi, according to the Daily Mail.

The Dutchman is the third senior member of staff to leave United following David Moyes's arrival from Everton.
