Manchester United have not offered Jose Mourinho the chance to become their new manager, according to the Portuguese's agent Jorge Mendes.
It is widely thought that Louis van Gaal will lose his position as head coach at Old Trafford after a run of six games without a win in all competitions, but as it stands, the Dutchman will take charge of the team against Stoke City on Boxing Day.
Various reports had claimed that Man United had approached Mourinho over the position following his sacking from Chelsea earlier this month, but Mendes has insisted that there has been no contact.
"There is nothing," Mendes told Globo Esporte. "We don't know what will happen in the future, but now there is no agreement. There isn't an official proposal either, that's not true."
It is understood that Van Gaal's future was not the subject of a board meeting held by Man United in London on Tuesday afternoon.
However, defeat at Stoke on Saturday could spell the end of Van Gaal's time with the Reds, while Mourinho is currently still odds-on with the bookmakers to take control of the 20-time English champions.
