Harry Redknapp: 'Manchester United will not win Premier League this season'

Harry Redknapp believes that Manchester United will not be good enough to take the Premier League title off Chelsea this season.

Former Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has claimed that Manchester United will not be good enough to win the Premier League title this season.

Louis van Gaal managed to steer the club to fourth after the team dropped to seventh under former manager David Moyes in the previous campaign.

Widespread reports have claimed that the Premier League giants have around £150m to spend on new players this summer, but Redknapp has claimed that a vast improvement needs to be made.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss believes that considering United just "sneaked" into the top four last season after spending millions of pounds in the previous transfer window, it will be difficult for them to make that jump to champions.

In an interview with FourFourTwo, the 68-year-old said: "Finishing fourth is not a success for Man United. They're a team who won the league under Fergie so they're going to look to come back and win the league next year, they're going to want to be up there challenging.

"They spent a fortune last year and they just sneaked into fourth really so they need to improve this year, but I don't see them winning the league this year."

United have made one signing so far this summer - Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven on a four-year deal.
