Rodri: Manchester City players "p***ed off" by VAR

Rodri Hernandez admits that Manchester City players are "p***ed off" with how VAR awarded Manchester United a penalty during Saturday's derby defeat to the Red Devils.

Rodri Hernandez has admitted that Manchester City players were "p***ed off" with how VAR awarded Manchester United a penalty during Saturday's derby defeat to the Red Devils.

Marcus Rashford was brought down in the box at the Etihad but no penalty was given, only for VAR to reverse the decision after replays demonstrated that it was a clear penalty.

The goal laid the platform for United to claim a memorable 2-1 win, with Anthony Martial adding another soon after Rashford in a whirlwind opening 30 minutes.

Reflecting on the penalty incident, Rodri told The Mirror: "We are p***ed off by it but there is no point [talking] for us.

"We have to keep fighting and don't focus on these things. It is other people's jobs - we can't scream. Some decisions can change matches and VAR is there for getting decisions [right]. It is not an excuse for us."

City players were left feeling aggrieved after two potential handballs from Fred and Victor Lindelof were looked at by VAR but turned down.

The result leaves City sitting 14 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after 16 games.
