Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 'Dean Henderson will be Manchester United's number one'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that Dean Henderson has "proved" that he will become Manchester United's number one goalkeeper.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that Dean Henderson has "proved" that he will become the English side's number one goalkeeper at some point in the future.

Henderson has spent each of the last two seasons on loan with Sheffield United and has starred for the Blades in the Premier League this season, keeping 10 clean sheets in 27 league appearances.

The 23-year-old is due to return to Old Trafford next summer but his immediate future with the 20-time English champions is unclear due to the presence of David de Gea between the sticks.

Solskjaer has insisted that Henderson will be United's first-choice stopper at some stage, while the Norwegian is also confident that the former Carlisle United youngster will become England's number one.

"Dean has made some great choices over the years and has developed fantastically," The Mirror quotes Solskjaer as saying. "We're looking at that in terms of where he's going to be next season, but as yet that has not been decided.

"This season has proved a great experience for him, he's done himself some favours with his performances, and proved he will be England's number one and Man United's number one at some point."

Henderson is due to finish the 2019-20 Premier League season at Bramall Lane.
