Interim Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly tells Marcus Rashford that he will be the first-choice striker ahead of Romelu Lukaku.

Interim Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly told Marcus Rashford that he is the first-choice striker ahead of Romelu Lukaku.

Rashford was usually shunted out into a wider area under previous boss Jose Mourinho, particularly after the arrival of Lukaku for £75m in 2017.

However, Solskjaer has used the 21-year-old through the middle during his reign so far, and Rashford has rewarded the new boss with three goals in four league starts since his arrival.

Lukaku, meanwhile, has had to make do with a place amongst the subs in the league so far, although the Belgian has also been in good goalscoring form with three in as many games under the Norwegian.

The Daily Star reports that Solskjaer has held talks with his strikers during their warm-weather training camp in Dubai, during which he stressed that Rashford will be his number one centre-forward.

Lukaku is still understood to be in the club's plans, but Solskjaer has made it clear that he will now have to earn his place back from Rashford.
