Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says that the 1-0 win over Fulham demonstrated the 'spirit and fight' in the group.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has said that Saturday's 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League demonstrated the 'spirit and fight' that exists among the group.

Back-to-back 3-0 home losses to Manchester City and Newcastle United in the league and EFL Cup respectively piled the pressure on Ten Hag, with the team making their worst start to a campaign since 1962-63, losing eight of their opening 15 games of the season.

The Red Devils managed to bounce back against Fulham, though, with Bruno Fernandes netting the only goal of the match in the final exchanges.

There have been suggestions that Ten Hag is losing the dressing room at Old Trafford due to the team's struggles, but Man United are still believed to be fully behind the Dutchman despite recent speculation surrounding his future.

Ten Hag has said that the narrow success over Fulham showed that the players are ready to "fight for each other", while he also hailed the "good spirit" in the team.

"It's a good feeling of course. If you win it always is. But the performance was good. It's a massive win and a solid performance," Ten Hag told MUTV.

"This team has a good spirit and they are strong and they fight for each other, I think for the whole game. But as I said, it was solid.

"On the ball, we took dominance in the game and I think the pressing, and it's not easy against a good side as Fulham, they're very good on the ball, but we got the press right.

"It's always great when you score in the dying seconds of the game, I would always say that you win a game, but we scored already in the first half, very quickly in the game. So we can say from the whistle till the end, we played a good game."

Man United will now travel to Denmark for a key Champions League clash with Copenhagen, with the fixture taking place at Parken Stadium on Wednesday night.

The 20-time English champions are third in Group A, one point behind second-placed Galatasaray and six behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Ten Hag said that his side can now take momentum into the European fixture following their late success at Craven Cottage in the Premier League.

"We take that with us. That is what I also said to the group. But this attitude, you need it every game. There are no easy games, we know that. But you have to bring this. And today it was written," he added.

Fernandes also hailed the character in the squad following the clash on Saturday afternoon.
