Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kieran Trippier says that several of England's players will be boosted ahead of the World Cup by the chance to win silverware with their clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kieran Trippier has said that several of England's players will be boosted ahead of the World Cup by the chance to win silverware with their clubs.

Out of the starting lineup against the Netherlands on Friday, 10 were from the Premier League's top four clubs, including Trippier, Manchester City's Raheem Sterling and goalscorer Jesse Lingard.

With City cruising to a fourth Premier League title, and Manchester United and Tottenham to battle in the FA Cup semi-finals, Tripper told reporters that England will be in the right frame of mind heading to Russia in June.

"There are a lot of players still going for trophies this year and that can only have a knock-on effect to the rest in the England squad who aren't," the 27-year-old said. "It's great experience to be challenging. For example, at Tottenham we are going for the FA Cup and trying to finish in the top four.

"It's good for the team and the individuals. There is obviously pressure when you play at a World Cup but so many of us will face that with our clubs beforehand.

"Loads of the players in the dressing room are going for big trophies like the Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup. A lot of players have already won things as well. So I don't think the pressure of the World Cup will be a problem."

England face Italy in their next international friendly on Tuesday.
