Louis van Gaal 'wants reduced Manchester United pre-season'

Louis van Gaal reportedly upsets the Manchester United board by requesting a reduced pre-season programme next summer.

Louis van Gaal has reportedly clashed with the Manchester United board after banning the club from planning another exhaustive pre-season tour next summer.

Prior to the current campaign, the Red Devils played five games in 12 days across the United States before playing another friendly against Valencia.

The People claims that the Dutch coach is keen to avoid a repeat of last summer's itinerary as he plots a tilt at the Premier League title next season.

As a result, United will play just three games on one coast of the US rather than across both coasts in a bid to reduce the amount of travelling required.

However, the club's hierarchy are still thought to want a more extensive pre-season programme, with individual matches poised to earn the Old Trafford outfit up to £2m-per-game in gate receipts and TV rights.
