Report: Sacking Solskjaer to cost Man United £5m

Manchester United will reportedly be forced to pay Ole Gunnar Solskjaer £5m if they decide to sack him before the end of his contract.

Sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would reportedly cost Manchester United £5m, with the Norwegian coming under increasing pressure.

United currently sit fifth in the Premier League, five points adrift of the top four and 27 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

According to the Daily Star, removing the former striker from his post would cost the club £5m, which is a similar amount to that paid out to Sir Alex Ferguson's successor David Moyes.

The report adds that United were also forced to pay Jose Mourinho £20m following his dismissal, and £8.5m to Louis van Gaal.

Former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with the United job, but Solskjaer eased the pressure with a 4-0 win over Norwich City last weekend.

United face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, hoping to end their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
