Report: Manchester United eyeing move for Carlo Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti has been earmarked as a potential successor to David Moyes at Manchester United, according to a report.

Manchester United's board are reportedly considering Carlo Ancelotti as a potential successor to David Moyes, should they decide to sack their manager.

United are facing the real possibility of missing out, not only on next season's Champions League, but European football altogether, which has led to protests from some sections of the Red Devils supporters.

The club's hierarchy are now weighing up their options and see the Real Madrid coach as a viable replacement, despite his own future being thrown into doubt after recent defeats, the Daily Star reports.

It is thought that a heavy defeat against Bayern Munich on Tuesday could be the final nail in Moyes's coffin, with questions raised over the Scot's ability to motivate the dressing room.

Despite reportedly facing competition for the Old Trafford hotseat from Jurgen Klopp and Diego Simeone, Ancelotti is seen a safe choice for the position thanks to his record with Chelsea.
