Ryan Giggs says that he is lucky to have played for a manager who believed in giving young players a chance.

Ryan Giggs has said that he feels lucky to have played for recently-retired Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former Wales captain made his league debut for the current Premier League champions as a 17-year-old in 1991.

"We were lucky to play under a manager who believed in playing young players," Sky Sports News quotes the 39-year-old as saying.

"I think, when you have someone like Sir Alex believing in you, you do not want to let him down. So, you try hard and you try and to do all the right things.

"You are not going to play well every week. If you do not play well, you go back, you practice and try and play as well as you can in the next game."

Giggs is currently preparing for his 24th season in the Premier League.
