Manchester United are keen to tie Axel Tuanzebe down to a new deal at Old Trafford, according to a report.
The 23-year-old has now entered the final 12 months of his contract with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, who seem set to bolster their defensive ranks with the signing of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.
Varane's imminent arrival would see Tuanzebe's first-team opportunities further restricted, and the versatile defender has been tipped to complete a move back to Aston Villa, whom he spent two separate loan spells with.
United do possess the option to extend Tuanzebe's contract by a further year, but Sky Sports News claims that the defender could be in line for a brand new deal before a possible loan exit.
The report claims that the Red Devils are keen to protect the centre-back's value while he plies his trade elsewhere, and Newcastle United could rival Villa for his signature.
Tuanzebe has totalled 37 first-team appearances for Man United but started just four Premier League games in the 2020-21 season.
