Borussia Dortmund reportedly express an interest in signing Manchester United's Mason Greenwood, who is also on the radar of Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United's Mason Greenwood is now the subject of interest from a Champions League finalist ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report.

The former England international is not expected to play for the Red Devils again, having been informed that there was no way back for him last year after his arrest and discontinued criminal case.

In January 2022, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault after online allegations emerged, before being further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and making threats to kill.

The forward was immediately suspended by Man United and was subsequently charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, with a trial date set for November 2023.

However, the case against Greenwood was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service due to new evidence coming to light and key witnesses withdrawing, leaving him free to restart his playing career.

Borussia Dortmund 'enter race for Greenwood'

Man United were allegedly set to welcome the Englishman back into the ranks after an internal review, but once news of their plans was leaked, they changed their minds due to the public uproar.

Greenwood has since rebuilt his career on loan with La Liga side Getafe, recording 10 goals and six assists in 34 games this season and apparently attracting interest from a number of revered European clubs in the process.

According to The Mirror, Borussia Dortmund have now thrown their hat into the ring and will combat Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Napoli for the chance to sign the exiled Man United youth product.

Getafe are pushing to keep Greenwood on loan for one more season, but another temporary exit is not thought to be possible, as Man United are eager to sell him permanently at the earliest opportunity.

Juventus have apparently made the most progress by holding talks with Greenwood's father, but Man United's valuation could prove problematic for the Italian powerhouses to meet.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe 'demanding £50m for Greenwood'

After completing his 27.7% purchase of the Red Devils just before Christmas, Ratcliffe left the door open for Greenwood to resume his Old Trafford career, stating that the club would assess "facts" rather than "the hype".

However, a return to Manchester is no longer thought to be possible for the attacker, but Ratcliffe is supposedly looking for at least £50m to let the one-cap England international depart this summer.

As well as the plethora of foreign parties, two unnamed Premier League clubs are said to have made enquiries over Greenwood, who previously scored 35 goals and set up 12 more in 129 matches for Man United.

The 22-year-old could be one of two Man United outcasts to join Dortmund permanently this summer, as the Champions League finalists are keen to continue working with Jadon Sancho beyond the end of the season.

No decision has been reached on the latter's future, but after his falling-out with Erik ten Hag, his Man United career is also thought to be dead in the water.
