Manchester City, Manchester United to fight over Jerome Boateng?

Manchester City and Manchester United are both reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng during the summer transfer window.

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for both Manchester City and Manchester United.

Boateng has established himself as a key part of the Bundesliga giants, but the 29-year-old may be allowed to move to a new club at the end of the season.

According to The Sun, that has alerted both City and United, with City boss Pep Guardiola said to be keen on a reunion with a player that he worked with at the Allianz Arena.

Boateng has already spent time at the Etihad Stadium, with 24 outings coming in all competitions during the 2010-11 campaign, although that is unlikely to lessen the chances of a switch to United.

The Germany international still has over three years remaining on his contract, but Bayern could cash in should they receive a significant offer ahead of next season.
