Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is reportedly in contact with several European clubs regarding a potential departure from Old Trafford this summer.

The 26-year-old has struggled to reach the heights expected for the Red Devils since joining the club from Ajax for £40m in 2020, scoring just twice in 60 games across all competitions.

Van de Beek made just nine first-team appearances under Erik ten Hag last season and missed the second half of the campaign due to a serious knee injury.

Indeed, injuries and a lack of regular first-team football have played their part in Van de Beek's frustrating three-year spell at Old Trafford, and the midfielder is believed to be ready to secure an exit away from the club this summer.

Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen have both been preferred ahead of Van de Beek under Ten Hag, while the £60m arrival of Mason Mount will seemingly push the Netherlands international further down the pecking order.

According to 90min, Van de Beek's entourage have been in discussions with a number of European clubs over a possible summer transfer.

Serie A trio AC Milan, Inter Milan and Roma are all said to have made enquiries for the Dutchman, but all three Italian clubs do not view the midfielder as a first-choice target.

Van de Beek has also attracted interest from the Premier League, with Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers all said to be monitoring his situation.

French outfit Nice – owned by Man United takeover candidate Sir Jim Ratcliffe – also hold an interest in the midfielder along with former club Ajax, Feyenoord, Sevilla and Celtic.

Van de Beek has been advised to join Scottish treble winners Celtic this summer by former Hoops boss Neil Lennon, who believes that the Dutchman would benefit from a fresh start in Glasgow.

It is thought that Man United have given the green light for Van de Beek to depart this summer and they would prefer to sell the midfielder as Ten Hag looks to generate funds to put towards top targets, with a new centre-forward and goalkeeper high on his wishlist.

However, 90min adds that a loan appears more likely for the midfielder as things stand, with his £120,000-a-week salary a possible stumbling block in negotiations with a number of clubs.

After six months out of action, Van de Beek took part in his first full training session with his teammates during Man United's first day of pre-season on Thursday.
