Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz would reportedly prefer a transfer to Real Madrid over moving to the Premier League.

Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly been dealt a blow in their bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz.

Since the beginning of 2020 and having starred in the Bundesliga, the 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to a bigger club.

More recently, it has been claimed that Chelsea are willing to spend in the region of £75m on the Germany international, with United continuing to monitor the situation.

However, according to Sport Buzzer, Havertz would prefer to move to Real Madrid at some point in the future.

Given the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, Real cannot afford to meet Leverkusen's alleged £90m valuation without making several player sales.

Nevertheless, the development increases the chances of Havertz spending at least another campaign at his current club.
