Manchester United could reportedly face competition from Real Madrid in their supposed pursuit of Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte.
Recent speculation had suggested that Louis van Gaal was eager to bolster his defensive ranks at Old Trafford by signing the 20-year-old, although any deal would not be concluded until the summer.
However, according to Marca, Madrid now also harbour an interest in the defender, who is under contract with Bilbao until June 2018.
It has been suggested that Bilbao will only allow Laporte to leave the San Mames if his release clause, which is thought to stand at £31m, is met.
The France Under-21 international has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season.
