Manchester United would be able to afford Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar this summer if Cristiano Ronaldo were to leave, according to a report.

Manchester United would reportedly be able to afford to sign Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar this summer if Cristiano Ronaldo were to leave the club in the current market.

Ronaldo's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with the 37-year-old said to be considering his future at Old Trafford due to the club's lack of movement in the transfer window.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich have both been linked with the Portugal international, while Sporting Lisbon are allegedly considering offering him the chance to return to the club.

Neymar's future at PSG has also recently been called into question, with the French giants said to be keen to sell him during this summer's transfer window.

According to RMC Sport, Man United would be in a position to sign the Brazil international if Ronaldo were to leave Old Trafford in search of pastures new.

The report claims that Chelsea also have the finances required to sign Neymar, while Newcastle United are also contenders, having become one of the richest clubs in the world due to their recent takeover.

PSG are said to be open to listening to offers for Neymar this summer, but the player is reluctant to switch clubs in a World Cup year, and he still has more than three years left to run on his deal in Paris.

Juventus are also currently being strongly linked with the South American, and it has been claimed that his representatives have been talking to the Italian side about a possible move.

Barcelona are also believed to be have been contacted over signing their former player, but the Catalan giants are currently focusing on bringing in Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski.

Neymar has won four Ligue 1 titles during his time in the French capital, but the club are still waiting to win the Champions League, and the attacker was booed last season due to some underwhelming performances.

The former Santos youngster has scored 100 goals and registered 60 assists in 144 appearances for PSG since his arrival in Paris from Barcelona.

The Ligue 1 side are believed to have become increasingly frustrated with Neymar's off-the-field conduct, though, and his relationship with Kylian Mbappe is believed to have become strained.

"A possible departure of Neymar this summer? What I can tell you is that we expect all players to do a lot more than last season. A lot more! They all have to be 100%. Obviously, we weren't good enough to go far," PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently told Marca.

"For next season, the objective is clear: to work every day at 200%. To give everything we have for this jersey, give the maximum and we will see the result. You have to become humble again. You have to change to avoid injuries, suspensions and fouls that change a game."

Neymar is believed to have been unhappy with the president's comments, which could lead to him seeking a move away before the end of the window.
