Manchester United 'could sign Odion Ighalo on a permanent deal'

Manchester United could decide to sign Shanghai Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo on a permanent deal this summer, according to a report.

Manchester United could reportedly decide to sign Shanghai Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo on a permanent deal at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

The Red Devils secured the Nigerian's services on a six-month loan deal in the final stages of the January window.

Under the terms of the current agreement, Ighalo will spend the rest of the season on loan with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side before returning to his parent club.

However, according to ESPN, the 20-time English champions could yet complete a permanent move for the 30-year-old, who scored 17 times in 55 Premier League appearances for Watford.

Any move for Ighalo, though, is expected to hinge on how he performs during his time at Old Trafford.

The Nigeria international was not available to make his debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend but could feature away to Chelsea in the Premier League on February 17.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer's team reportedly face missing out on a deal for Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez this summer as the Argentina international wants to join Barcelona.
