Manchester United face William Carvalho competition?

A report in Portugal says that Barcelona were in the stands watching Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho this weekend.

Scouts from Manchester United were reportedly in attendance to watch William Carvalho for a 12th time this weekend.

The midfielder has long been linked with the Premier League outfit, who are said to have seen the 21-year-old complete 90 minutes as Sporting Lisbon won 1-0 against Olhanense.

However, United manager David Moyes may face competition for the midfielder's signature in the summer from Barcelona, as the Catalan giants were also present at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, according to A Bola.

The report added that United are keen to sign Carvalho before this summer's World Cup, where his valuation could potentially inflate as a result of potential impressive performances for Portugal.
