Manchester United are reportedly in positive talks with Atalanta BC over a potential transfer for Rasmus Hojlund.

Manchester United have reportedly held positive talks over a deal for Atalanta BC striker Rasmus Hojlund.

After recently completing the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea, the Red Devils are now prioritising a new goalkeeper and striker.

While a £43m bid has been tabled for Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana, Man United's search for a new forward has also taken them to Italy, with Hojlund said to be a potential target.

They were initially looking at Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Napoli's Victor Osimhen, but both deals could prove difficult to pull off during the current window.

Spurs are reluctant to part ways with Kane and sell to a Premier League rival, while Napoli's £150m asking price for Osimhen has seemingly curtailed Man United's interest.

A recent report claimed that Man United boss Erik ten Hag is determined to sign Hojlund ahead of the 2023-24 season.

According to Sky Sports News, the Red Devils are continuing to hold talks with Atalanta, which are said to be "positive".

The report claims that Man United are not expecting personal terms to be an issue, with Hojlund keen to complete a move to Old Trafford.

However, there is still some way to go before a deal can be agreed between the two clubs due to differences in the player's valuation.

The 20-time English champions have already failed with a £30m bid, as Atalanta look to make a significant profit on the reported €17m (£14.5m) that they paid Sturm Graz to sign Hojlund last summer.

In a separate report, The Guardian states that the Italian club initially set Hojlund's asking price at €100m (£85.4m), but Man United will be hoping to lower that valuation and reach a compromise.

Hojlund, who has four years remaining on his contract, scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 34 appearances for Atalanta last season.

The 20-year-old has also made an instant impression for his country, racking up six goals in as many games for Denmark.
