Manchester United reportedly send a scout to watch Copenhagen's young talent Roony Bardghji ahead of his team's Champions League match against Manchester City.

Manchester United have reportedly sent a scout to watch Copenhagen's promising young talent Roony Bardghji ahead of his team's upcoming Champions League match against Manchester City.

The 18-year-old netted the winning goal when his team secured a 4-3 victory over The Red Devils in the Champions League group stage last November.

This season alone, the teenager has already scored 11 goals in 30 appearances, significantly boosting his market value.

It is understood that Copenhagen are expected to demand a record fee for the Swedish Under-21 international, with estimates hovering around the £17m mark.

His composure and skill in finding the net have apparently not only impressed fans but also Manchester United's scouting team, who were present during his Atlantic Ocean Cup match in Portugal.

According to The Sun, The Red Devils are in search of a right-winger following their decision to part ways with Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund on loan, and Bardghji's consistent performances have firmly placed him on their radar.

The report adds that United's scouts will continue to monitor Bardghji's progress in his club's next fixture against Molde and during both legs of the Copenhagen-Manchester City clash.

Bardghji made a significant impact with Copenhagen in 2021, as he debuted for the senior team just six days after celebrating his 16th birthday and scored his first goal for the club only a week later.

However, when questioned, the winger played down speculation in a recent interview with Sportbladet: "My main focus is here [at Copenhagen]. There is not much more to say. All talk is gone. I try to do as well as possible for FCK. I am happy that I am here.

"I also chose to stay here. It feels good. It's fun to think about [a possible move to the Premier League]. You never know, it could happen. Hard to say now."

In a separate interview with TV2, the Swede also admitted that the increased interest from clubs around Europe can sometimes be stressful to deal with.

"There has been a lot of talk. But I've just tried not to think too much about it and instead focus on what I can do," Bardghji said.

"It will be easy to say no. But it is not easy that there is so much talk around. It's not easy, but it's part of football. It will happen even more in the future, and you just have to get used to it.

"My goal is to be the best in the world. That has always been my goal. This is what I work hard for. I want to play in big clubs and in the Champions League next year again."

Man United's new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is eager to reverse the fortunes of the Old Trafford club, and efforts have commenced to identify players capable of propelling them to the next level.

The Red Devils are likely to lose Anthony Martial, whose contract expires in the summer, while Antony's future is also uncertain, having failed to hit the heights expected of him since arriving at Old Trafford.

United are currently in sixth place in the league table and will resume Premier League action on Sunday when they take on fifth-placed Aston Villa at Villa Park.
