Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United's first-choice target despite the availability of Barcelona's Lionel Messi, according to a report.

Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho is reportedly still Manchester United's number one transfer target despite the apparent availability of Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

United have been strongly linked with Sancho over the last few months, although it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can come to an agreement with BVB over a transfer fee.

Messi, meanwhile, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford after informing Barca that he intends to leave the club during this summer's transfer window.

According to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Sancho is still United's first-choice target, but the 20-time English champions "do have the finances" sign Messi.

"The next Premier League club: Manchester United," said Solhekol. "No comment from them as far as any potential move for Lionel Messi is concerned.

"Our information is that they're number one target remains Jadon Sancho but of course potentially, Manchester United do have the finances to be able to do a deal."

Sancho, who has a contract at Signal Iduna Park until June 2023, enjoyed an excellent 2019-20 for Lucien Favre's side, scoring 20 goals and registering 20 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.
