Manchester United's chances of signing Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves have reportedly diminished.
Current Man United midfielder Fred has come under criticism recently, which has sparked rumours surrounding a new central player being added to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad.
Neves has been a key figure for new Wolves boss Bruno Lage at the beginning of this campaign, playing every minute of the opening three Premier League fixtures so far.
The Athletic reports that despite being tipped as favourites to sign the Portugal international, Man United will not be securing his signature on deadline day as Wolves are not anticipating Neves's exit.
That could change if a huge bid was to be received by Wolves, but there is currently no movement on the midfielder's future, which is increasingly likely to be at Molineux this season.
Neves has a long-term contract in the West Midlands, running until 2024, having already made 179 appearances for the club since arriving in 2017.
