Manchester United reportedly have no intention of reducing their valuation of defender Chris Smalling below £18m.

Roma have reportedly been told to raise their bid for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling.

After falling out of favour at Old Trafford, the centre-back reignited his career last season during a loan period at the Italian giants.

However, the knock-on effect has been United setting an asking price which is seemingly more than Roma are willing to pay for the England international.

According to Corriere dello Sport, United continue to insist that they will not sell the 30-year-old below their valuation of £18m.

The report claims that Roma have, so far, only offered £11m plus bonuses, ahead of potentially raising the up-front fee to as high as £13.5m.

Despite the difficulty in reaching a compromise, officials at the Serie A side are said to remain confident about eventually concluding the transfer.
