Manchester United line up a £38.5m bid for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly lining up a €45m (£38.5m) bid for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, with the Red Devils giving serious consideration to replacing Andre Onana.

Erik ten Hag's side brought in Onana from Inter Milan last summer as a replacement for David de Gea, who was not offered a new contract at Old Trafford.

However, the Cameroon international has found it difficult to make his mark, conceding 47 times in 30 appearances, keeping only nine clean sheets in the process.

Onana has a contract with the 20-time English champions until June 2028, but there is already speculation surrounding his future due to his struggles.

Altay Bayindir was also brought into the goalkeeping department last summer, arriving from Fenerbahce, but he is not believed to be viewed by the Red Devils as a number one.

Oblak has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Man United thought to be long-term admirers of the Slovenia international.

According to TodoFichajes, Atletico have signalled that they would be willing to let Oblak leave during this summer's transfer window.

The report claims that Man United are lining up a €45m (£38.5m) bid for the 31-year-old, who made the move to Atletico from Benfica in the summer of 2014.

Oblak has made 422 appearances for Atletico in all competitions, including 30 outings during the 2023-24 campaign, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process.

The goalkeeper has a contract with Diego Simeone's side until June 2028, but there is a belief that he will be allowed to leave the capital outfit for the right price this summer.

Onana has been with the Cameroon squad at the Africa Cup of Nations, but his country have been knocked out, meaning that he will now head back to Manchester.

In theory, the stopper should be available for Man United's next Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday evening, but Bayindir will be between the sticks against Newport County on Sunday.

Tom Heaton is also still at Old Trafford, but he is expected to leave on a free transfer this summer.

The Red Devils are set to overhaul their squad ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, with a new centre-back, central midfielder and centre-forward potentially arriving as part of the rebuild under minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
