Chelsea's Mason Mount will allegedly undergo a medical with Manchester United on Monday ahead of signing a long-term deal at the club.

Mason Mount will reportedly undergo a medical with Manchester United on Monday ahead of signing a long-term contract at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are believed to have agreed a £55m plus £5m in add-ons deal with Chelsea for the transfer of Mount, who only has 12 months left to run on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Earlier this week, there had been suggestions that Man United were exploring other options, with Chelsea not prepared to accept the £55m offer that had been submitted.

However, a compromise has now seemingly been found between the two clubs, with the England international preparing to sign a five-year contract in Manchester.

According to journalist Matt Law, Man United have scheduled a medical for Mount on Monday, which will also mark the start of their pre-season.

Mount is believed to have come to an agreement with the 20-time English champions on personal terms earlier this month, before Man United were able to agree a package with Chelsea.

The 24-year-old will depart Stamford Bridge having managed 33 goals and 37 assists in 195 appearances for the capital giants in all competitions.

The playmaker found it difficult to make his mark for Chelsea last term, though, only scoring three times and registering six assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.

Mount struggled with injury in 2022-23, missing the end of the season following a pelvic operation.

The attacker is set to complete a move to Old Trafford after the weekend, and he could potentially make his debut in the team's pre-season opener against Leeds United on July 12.

A busy pre-season will also see Erik ten Hag's side take on Lyon, Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Lens and Athletic Bilbao.

Mount's official debut for Man United could potentially come against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 14, when the Red Devils will be looking to make a winning start to their Premier League campaign.

Ten Hag's side remain in the market for more signings this summer, with a new centre-forward a priority, while at least one goalkeeper will be required.

There is still uncertainty when it comes to the size of the club's budget in the current market, though, with the takeover situation at Man United ongoing.
