Report: Espanyol to launch Juan Mata bid

A report claims that Manchester United attacker Juan Mata is a transfer target for Spanish outfit Espanyol.

Espanyol are reportedly preparing a summer move for Manchester United attacker Juan Mata.

Mata, 28, is a popular figure with the Man United supporters, but his future has been thrown into doubt due to the arrival of Jose Mourinho, who sold the attacker while the pair were at Chelsea.

Villarreal, Everton and Valencia have all been linked with moves for the Spain international and according to The Mirror, Espanyol are ready to launch an ambitious bid to bring the midfielder to Barcelona.

Mata, who played the second half of Man United's pre-season win over Wigan Athletic on Saturday, moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea in January 2013 and has scored 26 times in 104 appearances for the Red Devils.
