Report: Manchester United keep tabs on Alex Song

A report claims that West Ham United loanee Alex Song is being tracked by Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly added Alex Song to his list of midfield targets.

It is believed that Van Gaal is eager to sign a holding midfielder, with the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Kevin Strootman believed to be his major options.

However, having seen Barcelona's Song in action during his ongoing season-long loan stint with West Ham United, Van Gaal has been impressed, according to The Express.

The report adds that West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has been made aware of United's interest, which may lead to him being offered a permanent contract to remain at Upton Park in the near future.

The 27-year-old has made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers this term.
