Half-Time Report: West Ham United, Everton goalless at the break

West Ham United and Everton play out a goalless first half in their FA Cup third-round replay.

West Ham United and Everton have played out a goalless first half in their FA Cup third-round replay this evening.

West Ham spurned a glorious opportunity to take the lead when Enner Valencia was denied by Joel Robles in the area after the South American striker had robbed John Stones of possession on the edge of the box.

Everton were next to create an opening moments later when Romelu Lukaku's close-range attempt was well saved by Adrian before the lineman's flag was raised for offside.

Aiden McGeady's step-over was enough to see the Ireland international work some space on 20 minutes, but his goal-bound effort was blocked by a West Ham defender inside a packed penalty area.

Stewart Downing went close on the half-hour mark when he cut inside and dragged a right-footed effort just wide of Robles's right-hand post.

A sweeping counter-attack from the Hammers almost brought the first goal but Alex Song's effort hit Valencia inside the area before Everton scrambled it clear for a corner on 34 minutes.
