Tim Sherwood expects Harry Kane to make decision on future "very soon"

Tim Sherwood expects Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to evaluate the club's plans for the summer before making a decision on his future.

Harry Kane will know "very soon" whether he intends to stay at Tottenham Hotspur or join Manchester United, according to former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood.

United have been tipped to make a move for the prolific striker, who admitted in March that he will not stay with Tottenham "for the sake of it".

Kane will be 27 by the time next season begins and has yet to win any silverware during his career, but the Red Devils will likely have to pay in excess of £150m to sign him.

The England international has a big decision to make should an offer be tabled and Sherwood, who handed Kane his full Spurs debut, believes that the next few weeks could be telling.

"It's like Alan Shearer," he told the Daily Mail. "He finishes fourth with Blackburn Rovers [in 1992-93], then second [in 1993-94]. Manchester United are all over him. But he decides to stay, because he believes we have the quality to win it, and we did the next season.

"Harry needs to assess this himself. I would wait to see what they do in the summer.

"They've got a manager who has not gone there to only finish inside the top four. Harry will know very soon if the club are willing to spend that money to give themselves that opportunity of winning the league."

Jose Mourinho confirmed earlier this week that Kane has recovered from a hamstring injury and is ready to return to action when football resumes.
