Chris Smalling wants Manchester United stay

Despite admitting that no talks have taken place over a new contract, Chris Smalling reveals his desire to remain at Manchester United.

Chris Smalling has insisted that he is "happy" to remain at Manchester United for as long as his services are required by the club.

The defender's contract is due to expire at the end of next season, which has resulted in speculation that he could move on this summer.

However, when asked for his take on his future, the 25-year-old stressed that he is eager to stay at Old Traffrod.

"The manager has shown a lot of faith in me, especially over these last couple of months. I've stayed fit and the manager has chosen me. I'm enjoying my football," he told reporters.

"The manager has shown his faith in me and if I'm playing, I'm happy. I'm happy to stay for as long as they want me."

Smalling, though, went on to admit that no talks had taken place over an extension to his current terms.

"[There have been no discussions] that I know of, but that's not something I take care of," he added.

The centre-back joined the Red Devils from Fulham in 2010.
