Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 'sets Manchester United deadline to offload players'

A report claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has informed Ed Woodward of the Manchester United players that he wants to get rid of over the next 15 months.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly given the club a year to replace the deadwood left over from previous regimes.

The Norwegian was appointed as the Red Devils' permanent manager in March after initially impressing during his three-month caretaker spell following Jose Mourinho's sacking.

Solskjaer has been tasked with bridging the 32-point gap on Manchester City over the next two seasons and, according to the Manchester Evening News, he is already thinking long term.

The report indicates that Solskjaer has informed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward of the players that he wants to move on before the 2020-21 campaign, when he will be expected to challenge for the title.

Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera have already made way this summer and a handful more, including Matteo Darmian and Romelu Lukaku, will be allowed to leave if the right amount is offered.

Meanwhile, it is claimed that United's released list, which is published next month, could reach double figures as a number of youngsters will not be retained.
