Jose Mourinho has reportedly made a U-turn by abandoning his pursuit of a new left-back, while at the same time offering Luke Shaw hope of a Manchester United future.
The Red Devils are said to have been put off signing the likes of Alex Sandro and Danny Rose as their asking prices are proving too high.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United will instead hand Shaw a new contract and integrate the 22-year-old back into their plans after a difficult couple of years.
Shaw and Mourinho have had a strained relationship, with the Portuguese publicly criticising his player on numerous occasions and also airing doubts over his fitness levels.
The same report indicates that fellow full-backs Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind will still be offloaded in the coming weeks.
