Report: Manchester United edge ahead of Liverpool in Danny Ings pursuit

Manchester United hope to agree a deal with Burnley striker Danny Ings before the end of the season, according to reports.

Manchester United are the favourites to sign Burnley striker Danny Ings this summer, according to reports.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at Turf Moor at the end of the season and has been repeatedly linked with a move to both United and Liverpool in recent months.

The Daily Mail reports that United manager Louis van Gaal is hoping to agree a fee with Burnley and sign a pre-contract with Ings, to prevent a bidding war between them and Liverpool at the end of the season.

Burnley will be due compensation for Ings as he is just 22, and this is expected to be around £5m.

The Englishman has scored nine Premier League goals this season.
