Manchester United may need to brace themselves for the departure of Alejandro Garnacho following reports of an offer for the winger made to the Red Devils.

Manchester United are said to have received a £67m offer from Serie A side Napoli for winger Alejandro Garnacho, casting further doubt on his future at the club.

The Red Devils are set to take on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Tuesday, and despite spending significant sums in recent seasons, United find themselves 10 places behind their third-placed opponents.

Boss Ruben Amorim could point to the injury issues that the club are currently facing as reason for his side's poor performances this season, but a number of senior players have underperformed.

However, while the Portuguese manager may need to make several additions in the transfer market in order to improve the team's outlook, the club's financial difficulties could lead to the head coach being given a limited budget.

United may look to sell some of the players currently at their disposal to raise funds, and Fichajes reports that they have received a sizeable bid from Napoli for Garnacho.

Is Garnacho worth selling?

Garnacho has so far endured a mixed season at Old Trafford, scoring four Premier League goals and providing one assist in 28 appearances.

It is important to point out that Garnacho has also not always enjoyed a positive relationship with Amorim, who left the forward out of the squad that faced Manchester City in December.

The 20-year-old is young enough to develop into a more rounded player, but it is difficult to see where the Argentine fits into his manager's system.

Amorim utilises a 3-4-3 formation and deploys two attacking midfielders in support of a central striker, and such roles would not play to his strengths.

Who should United sign?

United's financial struggles make selling Garnacho an attractive proposition, especially as he is one of few sellable assets with several admirers.

In the event of a sale, perhaps the Red Devils should look to sign a right wing-back considering Diogo Dalot has failed to impress out wide.

Forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled to make an impact up front for Amorim, and given they have only scored a combined six Premier League goals, looking for a striker should be seen as an urgent priority.
