Pierre van Hooijdonk: 'Robin van Persie would stay for Louis van Gaal'

Pierre van Hooijdonk is adamant that if Louis van Gaal replaces David Moyes as Manchester United manager, then Robin van Persie would remain at the club.

Pierre van Hooijdonk believes that Robin van Persie will stay at Manchester United if Louis van Gaal replaces David Moyes as the club's manager.

United have reportedly met with the Netherlands manager, who will step down from his current job after the World Cup, as a possible replacement for Moyes should they choose to part company with the Scot in the summer.

Van Hoojidonk feels that Van Gaal's relationship with Van Persie would convince him to stay at Old Trafford.

He told The Mirror: "Let me tell you one thing, if Van Gaal becomes manager of Manchester United, Van Persie will stay.

"Louis will bring in a number of top players and he will create a whole new team for United, which we can see, is necessary."

Van Persie has scored 17 goals for United this season in all competitions.
