Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admits that the "experience of living a World Cup or European Championship from the inside" is something that appeals to him.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that he would like to one day switch to international management and compete at the World Cup.

The Portuguese has spent the last 22 years of his career coaching at club level, beginning with a spell as assistant at Porto and culminating in his current job at Old Trafford.

Mourinho, under contract with United until 2019, has aspirations of managing on the international stage in the future and would like to guide a side to a major tournament.

"There will be a moment in my career where I would prefer that nature of job, being more analytical and preparing a team inside doors but competes less," he told Sky Sports News.

"The experience of living a World Cup or European Championship from the inside is an experience I want to have after so many years I've had in football."

Mourinho, who rejected the chance to manage England a decade ago, has won 25 trophies during spells at Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and United.
