England coach Roy Hodgson is reportedly ready to recall Rio Ferdinand for the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and the Republic of Ireland.

Roy Hodgson will reportedly recall Rio Ferdinand to his England squad for the upcoming friendlies against the Republic of Ireland and Brazil.

The Manchester United defender recently pulled out of the Three Lions' World Cup qualifying games against San Marino and Montenegro, citing issues over his training regime.

The withdrawal from the squad came after a lengthy absence from the national side, which led to reports of a bust-up between the manager and Ferdinand himself.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Hodgson is considering calling up the 34-year-old for friendlies against Ireland at Wembley on May 29 and a match with the World Cup hosts on June 2 in Rio de Janeiro.

The Red Devils centre-back has not played for his country since 2011.
