Aitor Karanka expecting worst following injury to Damia

Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka admits that he is expecting the worst for Damia after the defender was stretchered off in the win over Cardiff City.

Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka has suggested that Damia is likely to be out of action for an extended period after picking up a knee injury in the win over Cardiff City on Tuesday.

Damia was stretchered off in the second half of the victory in the Welsh capital, and Karanka admits that he is expecting bad news from the scan scheduled for the Spaniard.

"I think it is a serious knee injury but let's see tomorrow, he will have a scan and we will see what happens," Karanka told reporters after the game.

"It would be disappointing, that was a position where we had a lot of problems last season but we will see."

Damia joined the club on a free transfer in the summer.
