Middlesbrough's Ben Gibson: "It was do or die"

Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson praises the resilience of his side to secure an important 1-0 victory over Norwich City in the race for promotion to the Premier League.

Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson believes that his side's 1-0 win over Norwich City is vital in their push for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Aitor Karanka's men took the lead in the eighth minute when Alex Tettey headed the ball into his own net when he tried to clear from a corner.

The Canaries applied the pressure in the second half, but Boro were resilient at the back to clinch three huge points in their quest for promotion.

Gibson told Sky Sports News: "We got the goal and it was just a case of digging in and we did it fantastically, it was do or die, a draw wouldn't have been good enough for automatic promotion."

Middlesbrough moved one point clear at the top of the Championship as a result of their victory over Norwich.
