A stoppage-time strike from Jon Otsemobor resulted in the MK Dons advancing past AFC Wimbledon during their round two FA Cup clash this afternoon.

League One's MK Dons controlled the majority of the opening 45 minutes and created a handful of goalscoring opportunities in the process.

The first fell to defender Otsemobor with seven minutes played, but his flicked header was saved at the near post by Neil Sullivan.

It looked as though Sullivan was going to ensure that his side went into the break level when, with 43 minutes played, he got a bit of luck. Having spilt Dean Lewington's tame effort, the veteran goalkeeper managed to recover quickly to claim the ball at the second attempt.

However, just one minute later the 42-year-old was beaten. Stephen Gleeson weighed up his options 30 yards from goal and opted to power a shot beyond the dive of Sullivan and into the top right-hand corner of the net.

Dean Bowditch had a chance to extend the home team's lead shortly after the restart, but he dragged his shot into the side netting from a narrow angle.

That miss was punished in the 59th minute when Jack Midson guided a headed effort from a cross by Curtis Osano past MK Dons goalkeeper David Martin to level up the tie.

MK Dons thought they had regained the lead with 70 minutes played, but Ryan Lowe's strike from close range was chalked off because substitute Zeli Ismail had been judged to be offside as he played in his teammate for a tap-in.

With the match approaching stoppage time at the end of the second half, AFC Wimbledon's Steven Gregory found himself with just Martin to beat, but the goalkeeper managed to get a hand to his low effort to deny the attacker.

Then, in what was virtually their last attack of the match, MK Dons scored the winner. Following a goalmouth scramble, former Liverpool trainee Otsemobor managed to divert the ball over Sullivan and into the net to book his side a place in round three of the competition.
