Nantes through to Coupe de la Ligue semis after seven-goal thriller with Nice

Nantes book their place in the last four of the Coupe de la Ligue thanks to a scintillating 4-3 victory over Nice.

Nantes have advanced to the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue by coming through a seven-goal thriller against Nice this evening.

Didier Degard put visiting Nice in front after 18 minutes by firing a free kick under the Nantes wall and into the corner.

Nice held their lead into half time but the home side were level moments after half time when Filip Djordjevic diverted Serge Gakpe's shot into the net.

Djordjevic then put the home side in front minutes later by again converting a ball from Gakpe.

Nice dragged themselves back into it when centre-back Timothee Kolodziejczak planted a header into the bottom corner, but they weren't level for long as Nantes went back in front five minutes later through another centre-back in Oswaldo Vizcarrondo.

Nice top scorer Dario Cvitanich was sent on for the final five minutes and he made an instant impact by tapping home a loose ball in the area and the game looked like it was heading for extra time.

There would be further drama though and Nantes booked their place in the last four thanks to Gakpe's low shot in the 88th minute.
