Edinson Cavani hits out at family speculation

Edinson Cavani tells his parents to stop dropping hints about his future in order to be respectful to Napoli.

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has told his family to stop discussing his playing future with the media as it is harming his reputation.

The Uruguayan is strongly tipped to leave Naples over the coming months with Real Madrid and Chelsea just two of the reportedly interested parties, and the player's parents have come out on several occasions to drop hints about where he could end up.

However, Cavani is unhappy with his mother and father and has urged them to remain silent in respect of his current employers.

"This is a good opportunity to tell the world that when my family speaks, that isn't Edinson Cavani speaking," Cavani told Marca. "I've asked my family thousands of times to please not talk anymore because it harms me. I belong to Napoli and everything depends on that club.

"Real is one of the best clubs in the world and when we're kids, we dream about playing at a team like Madrid or Barca.

"But there is no deal. Right now, I'm at Napoli and I'm very proud to be there. If I leave one day, I'll be ready to move to a bigger club. We'll see."

Cavani netted 36 goals in 41 appearances for Napoli last season.
