Yohan Cabaye insisted that it was important for Newcastle United to go top of their Europa League group after the victory over Bordeaux on Thursday night.

The French midfielder played a key role in the win but has urged his teammates to quickly turn their attention back to the Premier League.

Cabaye said: "It was very important to get the three points tonight to get the first place in the group.

"Every player played well and we must have a quick turnaround because it's going to be a tough game [against Manchester United] on Sunday."

Newcastle have already faced United once this season, losing 2-1 at Old Trafford in the Capital One Cup.
