John Carver: 'Next Newcastle United manager won't have say on transfers'

Newcastle United assistant boss John Carver says that the club's new manager "will not get involved" in transfer dealings.

John Carver has claimed that the new manager at Newcastle United will not have a say in transfer dealings at the club.

The Magpies are searching for a successor to Alan Pardew, who left St James' Park to take over at Crystal Palace last week, although a decision over the new boss is thought to be a long way off.

However, whoever eventually takes over the managerial hotseat has been warned by current assistant Carver that their role will be restricted when it comes to making new signings.

"Whoever the manager is, won't get involved in that situation I don't think," he told reporters. "Whoever's coming in is going to be the head coach and the head coach's responsibility is to look after the team and make sure that the team is prepared for the next game."

Former Lyon coach Remi Garde will reportedly hold talks with Newcastle chiefs over the next few days regarding the vacant position.
