Steve McClaren: 'Newcastle United were magnificent against Chelsea'

Steve McClaren says that Newcastle United were "magnificent" during their 2-2 draw against Chelsea.

Steve McClaren has praised Newcastle United following their 2-2 draw against Chelsea.

Newcastle led by two goals before Chelsea hit back in the final 11 minutes to rescue a point.

"We were so close to a great win, and then you think at 2-2 with five minutes still to go, you could win it or lose it," McClaren told Sky Sports News.

"The momentum had swung. in the end the key thing was the result and the way we played, the way we responded.

"We said end the week well and show what they can do, and I think they did that. Their attitudes were magnificient. We looked a team today. Today, that was more like it."

Newcastle United sit three points from safety in the Premier League table.
