Newcastle United's Davide Santon rues missed opportunity

Newcastle United defender Davide Santon believes that his side missed a great chance to move up the Premier League table after being beaten by Hull City.

Newcastle United defender Davide Santon has admitted that his side were below par in their defeat to Hull City.

The Tigers came from behind to snatch a victory at St James' Park after Loic Remy had twice given the Magpies the lead against Steve Bruce's side.

Santon told the club's official website: "Everyone is really disappointed. This was a big chance to win and put ourselves in a nice position up the league but we haven't taken it.

"Last week we defended much better; this week we didn't defend very well at all - me as well - and that was really disappointing.

"In the Premier League you cannot think games are easy because every team is difficult. You always have to play at 100 per cent, we didn't today and now we have to make up for it in the next game."

Newcastle are 12th in the Premier League after five games this season.
